ICDLI Manufacturer Meeting
The video conference is open to all HPL manufacturers - regardless of whether they are a member of the ICDLI or not. In addition to the latest news from the HPL industry, participants can look forward to two exciting keynote speeches.
Dr Thieß Petersen, Senior Advisor Sustainable Social Market Economy at Bertelsmann Stiftung, reports on the geopolitical and economic impact of Donald Trump's inauguration as US President on the European economy. Clear negative consequences are to be expected for the European economy, but also for the US economy. The industry is particularly concerned about the announcement of punitive tariffs. These would make products from European manufacturers more expensive and therefore less competitive.
At the beginning of 2023, the European Chemicals Agency ECHA added the substance melamine, which is used in the form of resins as glues and adhesives, to the list of substances of very high concern (SVHC). Dr Esther Agyeman-Budu, Specialty Chemicals and Sector Group Manager of the European Melamine Producers Association (EMPA) at Cefic, will report on the current status and EMPA's activities in the restriction procedure.
